Between the progress of projects and events linked to packaging and their reuse, we offer you a summary of the main points stated in the October newsletter by our partner Buddie-Pack.
Quality, user engagement & environmental impact: update on current projects
Dynamism was felt on the home side Buddie-Pack. Each of the working groups continually works to enable the development of reuse, in accordance with the regulations established by European political authorities.
This is what Marie-Alix Berthet, Project Coordinator, illustrates in the introduction to the newsletter. In the first lines of the newsletter it reviews the steps taken so far for each work package defined in the consortium to achieve the economic, ecological and operational modeling of 6 use cases making it possible to industrialize the reuse of plastic packaging.
The progress of the various projects presented emphasizes work related to the quality and safety of reusable packaging. Thus, a packaging quality control method was developed by the CTCPA Agro-Food Technical Center.
Over the past few months, tests have been carried out by the technological leaders of WP3 (World Package 3): IPC, TUS and AIMPLAS concerning the selection of materials for plastic packaging intended for reuse. The latter also provided the first results linked to the effect of aging of materials by microwaves.
In another highlighted project, researchers at the University of Sheffield have made progress towards providing insight into consumer engagement in reuse schemes.
Finally, the newsletter covers life cycle analyzes of reusable packaging. The work of WP7 aims to identify the hotspots of reusable packaging throughout its life cycle for each use case and to provide guidelines to make reusable packaging more virtuous than packaging for single use.
