ETERNITY Systems acts to break gender stereotypes and fight against representativeness bias

Webinar - Breaking gender clichés and representativeness biases

Last updated: 06 / 01 / 2025

For several decades, the world of work has still faced stereotypes and biased representations. To discuss it, 5 participants from different sectors of activity (associative, educational, industrial, etc.) were brought together during a webinar to note the preconceptions about the different professions/sectors as well as the clichés of “associated” genres and to propose set of solutions to remedy this:

To represent ETERNITY Systems, Éléonore BLONDEAU intervened to talk about the general representation of the industry and the systems put in place by the company to deal with it. Laurent Mauriac (president and founder of Brief.me) was responsible for hosting this round table.

Priority: restore the image of the industry

Generally, industrial professions have a rather negative connotation in the minds of the general public. Indeed, they can refer to images of “black smoke” or “filth”. In reality, this representation above all testifies to a lack of understanding of the elements characterizing today's industry.

It is on this observation that Éléonore BLONDEAU intervenes to oppose this representation, insisting in particular on the fact that the industry is in reality the objects used on a daily basis: “ the industry is ultimately everything you touch on a daily basis: your pair of shoes; your glasses, your bike, your children's skateboard, your smartphone, the chair you are sitting on. That's the industry. »

She also launched the idea of developing infographics which would present in a fun and educational way the different stages of the value chain to produce each of these products, and indicating the different professions involved and the routes to get there.

Another point: the location of industries. Today, factories are still far from consumption and residential areas. Éléonore BLONDEAU then suggests reviewing territorial planning, by bringing factories closer to these consumption areas. This would, on the one hand, reduce transport costs, also improve accessibility to soft transport and thus facilitate access for employees without a permit (interns and work-study students, etc.), and on the other hand, reconcile the general public to their presence in their environment.

Finally, the most important element: immersing the general public in the realities of the industry. It is on this path thatETERNITY Systems organizes annual Open Days the last of which took place in May 2023. The goal: to discover the process of collection, transport, repair, washing of primary, secondary and tertiary packaging.

Smooth Open Day

At ETERNITY Systems, individuals above all!

The world of work is still faced with difficulties related to recruiting talent.

ETERNITY Systems seeks above all to break the codes dictated by recruitment. As Éléonore BLONDEAU points out, “ motivation remains the main reason for recruitment. » It is therefore regardless of educational background, experience acquired or factors that may be subject to discrimination when applying (age, origin, religion, etc.) that the company strengthens itself.

The company opens the doors of employment to people in professional integration, or so-called “distant from employment”. It even happens that some do not speak French, or even know how to read or write. Thus, French lessons are given to them every week to facilitate their integration.

At the management level, recruitment at ETERNITY Systems is done in favor of equality, as evidenced by the recruitment of Claire ROBILLARD as a member of the Executive Committee. This is a real asset for improving the overall performance of the company.

Finally, to enable the employability of young people, the company encourages work-study programs and VIEs. For the company, it is about allowing young people to find their way and normalizing, where appropriate, the right to make a career mistake.

We would like to express our thanks to Melchior and Mid-Sized Business Movement for the invitation.
