rEUse, the European campaign in favor of reuse

ETERNITY Systems supports the rEUse campaign

Last updated: 27 / 12 / 2024

Under the impetus of theNew ERA Alliance, ETERNITY Systems is committed through its activity to supporting the reUse campaign, launched on a European scale to support the evolution of the PPWR regulation in favor of the reuse of packaging, while respecting the waste pyramid, the first brick of which is: sobriety.

“Goodbye linear economy, substandard recycling, hello circular economy!” »: these are the words announced at the end of the rEUse campaign. The message and the objective are clear: put an end to single-use packaging and democratize reusable packaging for everyone, both among manufacturers and consumers.

Alarming figures regarding single-use packaging

As highlighted in the rEUse campaign, single-use packaging waste causes serious damage to biodiversity. According to the New ERA Alliance, the total quantity of single-use packaging produced annually by each European amounts to 180 kg. This represents on average half a kilo per day! ETERNITY Systems : support and actor in the reuse value chain

Supporting the reuse value chain means keeping packaging in a closed loop. This loop has major advantages on the scale

  • Environmental: reuse contributes greatly to the reduction of greenhouse gas and CO2 emissions, which results in the reduction of materials consumed for production
  • Economic: The reuse system ensures economic growth as well as a reduction in costs linked to waste management
  • Social: Job creation and territorial anchoring on a regional scale
  • Geopolitics: Reusing packaging allows us to avoid supply shortages

Due to its activity, ETERNITY Systems establishes itself as a pillar player in the circular economy regarding packaging. Each washed package follows a cycle involving different stakeholders (producers, distributor, washing service, end consumer, etc.). In addition, with the recovery of water used for rinsing packaging, ETERNITY Systems further minimizes the impact of container washing. In fact, 1L of water is reused up to 300 times and some of our sites achieve up to 80% water autonomy.
