Regulations that encourage the reuse of industrial packaging
The regulatory framework is evolving towards greater reuse. Two measures directly concern industrial and commercial packaging:
REP — AGEC law
Since January 1, 2025, Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) applies to industrial and commercial packaging (EIC), under the AGEC law (Anti-Waste for a Circular Economy). This extension requires producers to finance or organize the collection and treatment of waste from their products, now including packaging used by professionals.
SUP Directive
At the same time, the European Single-Use Plastics (SUP) Directive imposes restrictions on certain single-use plastic products, encouraging the use of reusable alternatives.
