Two employees of ETERNITY Systems traveled to Düsseldorf (Germany) for the 2023 edition of the Interpack exhibition. They volunteered to share their experience as a visitor.
The packaging and reconditioning sector also has its flagship event. Taking place every three years, the Interpack exhibition brings together more than 2800 exhibitors presenting their packaging and technological innovations with curious visitors from more than 156 different countries.
Among the visitors, Johann BÜCH et Albert OLDENBURGER, collaborators ofETERNITY Systems, from the Krefeld site (Germany) participated in this 2023 edition which took place from May 4 to 10. They had come mainly with a view to forging new commercial partnerships and discovering new ideas for developing the reuse of packaging.
Interpack 2023 exhibition: An experience rich in surprise and inspiration
According to them, the event largely kept its promises by meeting the needs sought. Johann BÜCH declares to have « had a great time at Interpack 2023 and [be] very happy to meet long-standing business partners as well as find inspiring exhibitors. ». Albert OLDENBURGER showed up “excited by the technical solutions presented”.
Our two employees were therefore amazed by the performance demonstrated by the machines and innovations presented by the exhibitors, so much so that ideas for the development of reuse:
« Interpack can always be a good source of inspiration to take new paths and reinvent processes. During our visit this year, we hoped to discover new ideas to continue implementing reuse in the market. » continues Johann BÜCH.
Interpack 2023 exhibition: An experience ruined by single-use packaging…
However, a dark spot taints their enthusiasm. They denounce the fact that the trend of the show was not oriented towards the reuse of packaging and containers:
« Unfortunately, the major actors presented their solutions for single-use packaging. » regrets Johann BÜCH.
“I was surprised by the importance of disposable packaging. Reusable solutions were very poorly represented. I think it's clear to all of us that this can't be the future. » decides on Albert OLDENBURGER.
...but creating ambition for the use of reusable packaging
Despite everything, our two collaborators remain very optimistic in thinking that the reuse of packaging will take a considerable place in the next editions ofInterpack, but also in everyday life:
« It is clear that the market is moving towards reuse in more and more sectors, with many brilliant ideas to solve existing problems. I am sure that these ideas will become solutions and I look forward to these solutions being presented to Interpack in the years to come. » says Johann BÜCH
« We will continue to strongly support the reusable packaging industry in its growth, so that in the years to come it can gain more and more importance in society and at this event because European initiatives like R3Pack ou Buddie-Pack have their place! » says Albert OLDENBURGER.
For ETERNITY Systems, this first visit to Interpack marks a good start in the company's objective of recognition as a player in reusable packaging and the circular economy. For the 2026 edition, we hope to go further in this direction by participating as an exhibitor.
